Death toll rises to 41 in twin bombings in Istanbul

The death toll in the deadly Istanbul bomb attacks rose to 41 with the death of another civilian, Doğan News Agency reported early on Dec. 12.
Selin Çelik, who was wounded inside a bus on Dec. 10 in the twin bombings near Beşiktaş’s Vodafone Arena stadium, succumbed to her injuries in intensive care, the agency said, according to Hurriyet Daily.
At least 30 of the victims of the attack, which targeted a police vehicle, were officers, while seven of them were civilians, according to initial reports by state officials, with the identity of one victim remained unknown.
The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK), an offshoot linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), claimed responsibility for the attack on Dec. 11.
