Turkey's president norminates new prime minister

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Thursday in Ankara that Foreign Minister Ahmet Davuroglu will become the new prime minister, reports Turkish media.

Reportedly, Davutoglu was also appointed interim head of Turkish Justice and Development Party (AKP).

TRT Haber said his candidacy must be approved by Aug. 27 at the ruling party's extraordinary congress.

Earlier it was reported that a decision will be made on the prime minister's appointment on Aug. 21.

Presidential election was held in Turkey on Aug. 10. It was won by the current Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who gained 51.8 percent of the vote.

Current president Abdullah Gul will leave office Aug. 28.
