Peskov: Riyadh suitable as venue for Putin-Trump talks, but no decisions on that yet

Riyadh has been named as a possible venue for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and United States President Donald Trump, but there is no final decision on the matter, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said, reported from Interfax.

"For the two countries, Riyadh is suitable. Indeed, Riyadh has been mentioned. But no decisions have been made or formalized on this matter so far, either at the working level or at the top level. We do not know whether it will be Riyadh or another capital," Peskov said in an interview with Channel One.

"It will take time to prepare this meeting. It may take weeks or several months," he added.

"President Trump has already said after the conversation that he sympathizes with the leadership of Saudi Arabia as a partner country," Peskov said.

Russia is maintaining "very constructive cooperation with Saudi Arabia in various areas," Peskov said.

"It is well known that Putin has very good relations with the crown prince. They have spent very many hours together in conversations, discussing global problems," Peskov said.

"Trump treats the crown prince warmly and the Russian president also treats him very kindly, they have very advanced relations," Peskov said, referring to the possibility of the two presidents' meeting in Riyadh.

"Both Russia and the US said that this venue, indeed, suits everyone, but the decision has not been finalized yet, this will already be done at the working level," he added.
