Deputies to pay homage to Pope Francis and postpones questioning of Francos

The Chamber of Deputieswill hold a session on Tuesday to honor the . Thus, the interpellation to the Chief of Cabinet, Guillermo Francos , who was to answer questions about the $LIBRAcryptocurrency scam , promoted by the President in his social networks, will be postponed.

The request for the session was made by the Union for the Fatherland (UP) block of deputies , who requested that it be on Tuesday afternoon. "After 12 years of papacy , of a life based on solidarity and fraternity and committed to social justice and peace, we deeply regret his departure", they considered.

Thus, the interpellation session of Guillermo Francos for the crypto scandal will be postponed. Besides the Chief of Cabinet, the Ministers of Economy, Luis Caputo , and of Justice, Mariano Cuneo Libarona , and the head of the National Securities Commission (CNV), Roberto Silva , will have to give explanations.

UP's request for a session

On Monday afternoon, UP deputies sent the session request to the president of the Lower House of Congress, Martin Menem . "We hereby address you for the purpose of requesting you, pursuant to the provisions of Articles 35 and 36 of the Rules of Procedure of this H. Chamber, to call a Special Session for Tuesday, April 22 at 1 p.m. with the purpose of paying homage to Pope Francis on the occasion of his death on Monday, April 21, 2025," the text began.

"Argentine and neighbor of the City of Buenos Aires , we perfectly remember the place and time when we learned that Jorge Bergoglio had been announced as the new Pope . After 12 years of papacy, of a life based on solidarity and fraternity and committed to social justice and peace, we deeply regret his departure," continued the UP bloc , which added: "If there is something moving about Pope Bergoglio , as Vaticanologists call him, it was his pastoral geopolitics. He was a great motivator for opposing parties to sit at a table. This is no small thing. He did it with Cuba and the United States . He did it in Colombia . He made peace demarches between Russia and Ukraine , Armenia and Azerbaijan ; Armenia and Turkey , the two Koreas, Israel and Palestine , with Iran and theG5 for nuclear disarmament".

Finally, the deputies concluded: "The Pope dreamed of a world where fraternity and respect for our cultures, traditions and citizenship prevail . Because 'either we are brothers, or we destroy ourselves'".
