U.S. Secretary of State: Trump to decide how long U.S. stays engaged in Ukraine conflict

President Donald Trump will decide how much longer the United States will remain engaged in efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview with Fox News.

“The decision on how much longer we will continue to focus on this issue will be made by President Trump,” Rubio said, adding that a breakthrough in negotiations is “needed very soon.”

He noted that while Russia and Ukraine have moved closer in their positions, they are still far apart. Rubio added that it is time to accept the reality that “Ukraine will not be able to push Russia back to its 2014 positions.”
