U.S. warns Russia of consequences if Ukraine war continues

The proposed deal on Ukraine is the best possible outcome for Russia, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Kelly said on Thursday.
Kelly urged Moscow to accept the terms. “If Russia makes the wrong decision and continues this catastrophic war, the United States will be forced to reconsider its engagement in peace talks,” he said, adding that additional sanctions against Russia remain on the table.
Earlier, Russia’s Ambassador to the U.N. Vasily Nebenzya accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and his allies of attempting to “deceive and mislead” former U.S. President Donald Trump.
“No new anti-Russian sanctions will prevent the defeat of the Zelenskiy regime,” Nebenzya said, adding that Russia would continue the war as long as Kyiv prolongs the conflict and targets civilian infrastructure.
