U.S. demands results and deadlines from Russia-Ukraine talks

The United States expects negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to yield concrete results without dragging on for months, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said at a briefing.

“There is a commitment to ensure this does not go on for months or turn into meetings for the sake of meetings. This will not last a year,” Bruce said, adding that President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio “want results and deadlines.”

She noted that if progress is achieved at the talks, “it moves the process forward and can truly change the situation.”

Bruce emphasized that Trump and Rubio believe the conflict resolution must be led by the parties themselves.

Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is ready to host talks between the presidents of Russia, Ukraine, and the United States.

“When we discussed this idea with the president, he immediately expressed readiness for the sake of peace. There is no other leader today who enjoys the same level of trust,” Fidan told TRT Haber.

He added that for a presidential summit to take place, the delegations must “reach a certain stage” and prepare “specific solutions.” After a few more rounds of talks, a leaders’ meeting would become “inevitable,” he said.
