Slovakia’s Fico threatens to block new EU sanctions on Russia over energy risks

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said his country would not support the EU’s 18th sanctions package against Russia unless the European Commission offers a viable solution to Slovakia’s energy dependency. He made the statement on Facebook.
Fico warned that a full halt in Russian gas, oil, and nuclear fuel supplies would create a crisis for Slovakia.
The European Commission unveiled the new sanctions package on Tuesday, targeting Russian banks, energy exports, and sanction evasion.
