Trump sees no breakthrough in Putin call over Ukraine ceasefire

U.S. President Donald Trump said his latest phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin brought no progress toward ending the war in Ukraine.
“No, there was no progress,” Trump told reporters at Andrews Air Force Base, adding that he was “not happy” with the ongoing conflict.
He said the U.S. continues to send large volumes of weapons to Ukraine, but warned that stockpiles are being depleted. “We have to make sure we have enough for ourselves too,” he said.
The Kremlin said Putin reiterated Russia’s readiness for political dialogue, but affirmed that Moscow would not abandon its strategic goals.
The one-hour call, held on the eve of U.S. Independence Day, also touched on Iran, Syria, and broader Middle East issues. A potential in-person meeting was not discussed.
