Trump says he is ready to meet with Iranian officials if needed

U.S. President Donald Trump said he is willing to meet with Iranian representatives “if necessary,” claiming that Tehran “wants to talk” to Washington.
“I think they want to meet. I mean, I know they want to meet. And if it's necessary, I’ll do it,” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews. He added that his envoy Steve Witkoff is “deeply involved” in the talks and is doing a “fantastic job.”
“We are not looking to harm them,” Trump said, referring to Iran.
He also noted that he had not been in contact with Iranian officials since the U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities on June 30.
