Turkish journalist Timur Soykan released

Turkish journalist Timur Soykan, who was detained on Sunday over accusations of spreading disinformation on the social media platform X, has been released by court order, Turkish broadcaster CNN Türk reported.
Following police procedures, Soykan was transferred to court, which ruled to release him under judicial control. He is required to report to authorities three times a week and is banned from leaving the country.
The charges were brought by the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor’s Office, citing the alleged dissemination of false information online.
The case has sparked renewed debate over press freedom and the legal risks journalists face in Turkey.
