Doctor warns against eating certain porridges for breakfast

Porridge can be a healthy breakfast, but some people should be cautious, endocrinologist Yelena Churakina told Gazeta.Ru.
Whole-grain porridges are rich in fiber, B vitamins, and slow-digesting carbohydrates that help stabilize blood sugar, she said.
However, patients with type 2 diabetes should avoid semolina and white rice due to their high glycemic index.
Churakina also warned that people with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth or gluten sensitivity should avoid wheat-based grains like bulgur and barley.
