Syria's interim leader al-Sharaa has left Damascus

Syria’s transitional president Ahmad al-Sharaa has reportedly left the capital Damascus with his family, Lebanon-based Al Mayadeen reported citing unnamed sources.

The move is believed to come amid intensified Israeli airstrikes. A powerful explosion rocked Damascus earlier in the day, forcing the closure of Umayyad Square for more than three hours, the outlet added.
