Trump names Vance as likely successor

U.S. President Donald Trump said Vice President J.D. Vance is likely to be his successor in the 2028 presidential race and suggested that Secretary of State Marco Rubio could potentially join the ticket as vice president.
"I think, most likely... he's the vice president," Trump told reporters at the White House, referring to Vance’s position as MAGA’s future leader. He added that Rubio "might be someone who works with J.D. in some form."
The U.S. Constitution bars a president from serving more than two terms, but Trump has repeatedly hinted at a possible third bid, which would require a constitutional amendment.
