Iran and Armenia have agreed to construct a second border bridge across the Araz River, Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh said in Yerevan, according to Tasnim news agency.

She said the two countries also agreed to renovate the existing bridge and improve border terminals.

Sadegh added that particular attention during the talks in Armenia was given to railway projects. A strategic plan was agreed to develop a railway linking the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea.

Earlier reports said that design work on the second bridge between Armenia and Iran had been completed.
