Khamenei urges officials to stockpile food

Khamenei urges officials to stockpile food
08.09.2025 09:30

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told President Masoud Pezeshkian and cabinet members that the country must maintain strategic food reserves to guard against possible import disruptions, Iranian media reported.

Khamenei said reserves should cover the “necessary minimum” to ensure food security. He warned that “various risks are possible” and that goods available for import today “may not be possible to bring in at another time.”

The remarks came amid heightened tensions with Israel and discussions on reviving the UN “snapback” mechanism to restore sanctions against Tehran.
