European leaders to visit US for Ukraine talks

Leaders from several European countries will travel to the United States on Monday and Tuesday to discuss a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, U.S. President Donald Trump said.
Speaking to reporters at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington, Trump said “very interesting discussions” were underway.
He added that he also planned to hold a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming days.
In August, Trump hosted a summit in Washington with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, where they discussed military and financial support for Ukraine as well as possible mechanisms for talks with Russia.
The upcoming visits are seen as a continuation of U.S.-European efforts to pursue a diplomatic solution to the war.
