Turkey’s Fidan urges resumption of Ukraine peace talks

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said negotiations on Ukraine should resume from the point at which they were suspended, stressing the urgency of ending the war.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Fidan said: “Peace and ceasefire talks must resume from where they were left off. Turkey and Italy agree on the need for an immediate end to this war. It not only threatens regional security but poses a serious risk to global security.”
Fidan noted that Ankara had consistently warned of the dangers of escalation since the start of the war and pointed to the recent violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones as a sign of the risk of the conflict spreading beyond Ukraine.
He said NATO ambassadors had held an extraordinary meeting under Article 4 to discuss the incident, adding: “I hope this will never happen again. The risk of this war spreading is one of the gravest dangers, and it must end immediately.”
