UK’s new foreign secretary to make first trip to Ukraine

Britain’s new foreign secretary, Yvette Cooper, will make her first overseas trip to Ukraine on Friday, the UK government said.
“In the first few days as foreign secretary, I decided to visit Ukraine because its security is vital for the security of the United Kingdom,” Cooper said in a statement.
She added that London has allocated £142 million ($192 million) to help maintain and repair Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
Cooper was appointed foreign secretary last week, and the visit marks her first foreign mission in the post.
