Romania summons Russian ambassador over drone incursion

Romania’s Foreign Ministry said it summoned Russia’s ambassador in Bucharest on Sunday to protest the violation of its airspace by a Russian drone the previous day.
Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu said on X that the country’s air force tracked the drone with two F-16 fighter jets until it left Romanian airspace.
Romania, a NATO member, has repeatedly reported drone fragments falling on its territory since Russia launched strikes near the Danube border with Ukraine in 2023.
NATO has said it closely monitors such incidents but so far considers them accidental spillovers, not deliberate attacks.
