US attorney general presses for charges against John Bolton this week, CNN reports

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi’s office is pushing prosecutors to file charges against former national security adviser John Bolton by Sept. 26, CNN reported, citing two sources.
Prosecutors in Maryland leading the case said they would prefer more time to build evidence that Bolton violated the law, but the attorney general’s office is urging swift action, according to the report.
Politico reported earlier this week that FBI agents found classified documents during an Aug. 22 search of Bolton’s home and office, including materials on weapons of mass destruction, the U.S. mission to the UN and government strategic communications.
Bolton, known as one of Washington’s most hawkish figures, served as Trump’s national security adviser in 2018–2019 before being dismissed after sharp disagreements.
