Turkey says US sanctions stalling KAAN fighter jet project

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said the country’s national KAAN fighter jet program is stalling due to US sanctions.
He said the aircraft’s engines are stuck in the US Congress after their licenses were suspended under the CAATSA law, imposed in 2019 following Ankara’s purchase of Russian S-400 missile systems.
Fidan said such restrictions among NATO allies are a “systemic problem” and are forcing Turkey to seek alternatives worldwide.
