Hundreds of tourists rescued after snowstorm near Everest

Hundreds of tourists trapped by a snowstorm in the Karma Valley, leading to the eastern slope of Mount Everest, have been rescued, The Guardian reported.
The storm stranded around 1,000 people at camps located about 4,200 meters above sea level.
Rescuers and local residents freed 350 tourists, who have now reached the nearby town of Gudan, while several hundred more are on their way.
Contact has also been established with around 200 people still stranded on the lower slopes of the mountain.
