Apple preparing for life after Tim Cook – Bloomberg

Apple preparing for life after Tim Cook – Bloomberg

Apple’s succession question has moved to the forefront as CEO Tim Cook, who turns 65 soon, prepares to step down, Bloomberg reported.

The leading candidate to replace him is John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering. Ternus, 50, is viewed as a bridge between the veterans of the early iPhone era and the company’s new generation of leaders. He is described by colleagues as a charismatic, trusted executive whose influence extends beyond hardware to product strategy and marketing.

Apple has been steadily raising Ternus’s public profile, with him introducing new devices, giving major interviews, and personally greeting customers at the company’s Regent Street store in London.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is undergoing broader leadership changes. Several senior executives — including Johny Srouji and Lisa Jackson — are considering retirement, while the AI division led by John Giannandrea has faced challenges, prompting Apple to seek new talent from Meta’s Superintelligence Labs.

Cook is expected to remain as chairman of the board after stepping down as CEO, following a transition model seen at Amazon, Microsoft and Netflix — ensuring a smooth shift into Apple’s next era.
