White House says U.S., allies to monitor Gaza truce compliance

The White House said U.S. troops already deployed in the Middle East will help monitor compliance with the Gaza ceasefire agreements as part of an international mission.
Press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on social platform X that media reports suggesting Washington would deploy 200 additional troops to the region were “inaccurate and taken out of context.” She clarified that up to 200 U.S. service members under CENTCOM, already stationed in the area, would be tasked with monitoring the truce in Israel alongside international forces.
According to Reuters, U.S. troops will not be deployed inside Gaza itself. The mission will also include forces from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey and likely the UAE.
