Trump begins demolition of White House East Wing to build new ballroom

Construction crews have started demolishing part of the White House’s East Wing to make way for a new ballroom ordered by U.S. President Donald Trump, U.S. media reported.
The project is estimated at $250 million, with the new hall designed to hold up to 650 guests — more than three times the capacity of the current East Room. Trump had previously promised that the structure would not affect the existing building, but excavators have already begun tearing down the wing’s facade.
Officials said the ballroom will replace the East Wing, which had undergone multiple renovations in the past. The project is being financed through private donations and Trump’s own funds, without taxpayer money.
