Kobakhidze says extraditing Saakashvili to Ukraine is impossible
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that the extradition of former president Mikheil Saakashvili to Ukraine is not possible. He made the remarks in an interview with Adjara TV.
Kobakhidze said comments by Ukrainian officials, including Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of Ukraine’s presidential office, about a potential transfer of Saakashvili to Kyiv “should not be taken seriously”.
Earlier, Podolyak told Georgia’s TV Pirveli that Kyiv was “actively working” to bring Saakashvili out of Georgia, noting that he is a full citizen of Ukraine. He said the issue remains on Ukraine’s political agenda.
