Rubio gives assurances to European countries on Ukraine talks
28.11.2025 15:00

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has assured European representatives that issues directly affecting EU countries will not be part of negotiations to halt the Russia-Ukraine war, The New York Times reported.

According to the newspaper, during talks between Ukrainian and US delegations in Geneva, Rubio told European officials privately that matters impacting Western states would be kept off the negotiation agenda.

However, ahead of the talks in Switzerland, US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll suggested to Europeans that they may remain outside the process. He argued that European representatives have become “too aligned” with their Ukrainian counterparts, making it harder to assess the conflict objectively.
