‘There is a chance for a deal’: Trump says talks with Ukraine going well

US President Donald Trump said negotiations with Ukraine on a new settlement plan are “going well” and that there is “a good chance” of reaching an agreement.

Speaking to reporters aboard his plane while returning to Washington from Florida after Thanksgiving weekend, Trump said he had spoken by phone with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his special envoy Steven Witkoff, praising their work as “good.”

Trump noted that US and Ukrainian delegations “got along” during talks in Florida. However, he added that corruption in Ukraine remains a problem and complicates efforts to achieve peace.

He also stressed that he is not setting any deadlines for Russia regarding the settlement process and confirmed that Witkoff plans to meet the Russian president “sometime this week.”
