Greenland seeks UK support amid Trump remarks — Politico

Greenland’s business and energy minister Naaja Nathanielsen has urged the United Kingdom to take a “principled stance” and help counter threats made by U.S. President Donald Trump, Politico reported.

Nathanielsen said dialogue — rather than force or pressure — must remain the primary tool for resolving disputes, even amid growing global tensions.

Her appeal comes after Denmark warned that potential U.S. aggression could undermine the NATO alliance.

She thanked UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer for his support, noting that Greenland’s future should be decided solely by Denmark and Greenland itself.

Starmer has sought to avoid open confrontation with Trump, as his government aims to secure a trade deal with Washington and influence U.S. policy on peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Trump has argued that U.S. control of Greenland is necessary for national security, a claim rejected by Nordic governments.
