Protests continued in Tehran during the evening hours despite government statements claiming calm had returned, Iran’s opposition outlet Persian Independent reported.
The outlet disputed remarks by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who had earlier said that demonstrations had ended and the situation in Iranian cities was under control.
According to Persian Independent, residents of Tehran again took to the streets, chanting slogans against the authorities and voicing support for Reza Pahlavi.
Iranian officials were not immediately available for comment.
