Armenian court orders re-arrest of Russian billionaire Samvel Karapetyan
Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court of Appeals has overturned a lower court's decision on the house arrest of Russian-Armenian billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, ordering his return to custody.
The court upheld the Prosecutor General's appeal against the Dec. 30 ruling that had released Karapetyan to house arrest.
The owner of the Tashir Group will be returned to the National Security Service (NSS) detention center. Karapetyan was originally arrested in June 2025 on charges including "calls to usurp power" and financial crimes, allegations his defense team characterizes as politically motivated.
