Mass Protests in Iran: 3,000 Detainees Confirmed

Iranian security forces have reported the detention of 3,000 individuals allegedly involved in recent nationwide unrest. According to the Tasnim news agency, authorities claim most detainees are directly linked to "illegal armed groups" and actions that disrupted public order.

The protests, which began on December 28, were sparked by a worsening economic crisis. Inflation has reached 42.2%, and the Iranian rial has plummeted to a record low of 1.42 million per USD.

What started as market strikes in central Tehran quickly evolved into radical political demonstrations across the country. In response, authorities have imposed an internet blackout. Meanwhile, the U.S. has not ruled out the possibility of military strikes against Iran amid the escalating tensions.
