This wedding photographer really did go the extra mile to get the perfect shot of the bride and groom in these stunning clifftop photos.

Brian Ruebs was scared of heights but conquered that fear to capture these amazing pictures of outdoor enthusiasts Endjis and Elina Perkons in Yosemite National Park as they got married.

But to get there, Brian, from Redding, California, had to endure a terrifying 8.2mile 4,500-foot climb up the mountain.

When he took on the assignment, he had no idea quite what the job would entail but he wouldn't let it deter him.

And it was all worth it to get these once-in-a-lifetime pictures of the happy couple standing on top of the park's Half Dome with rolling mountains in the background and a perfect blue sky.

Ruebs, 42, said: 'I had already agreed to the shoot before I really looked into the hike... and the height thing.

'All of the fear came after I'd already said "Yes".'

Only Ruebs and an officiant were present for the intimate hike, which the group set off for at 5.30am, on July 15, 2015.

They used vacuum packs to fit everything into a backpack - including Endijs' suit, Elina's wedding dress and bouquet, and a bottle of champagne to celebrate.

In total, the hike, ceremony and shoot lasted more than 14 hours, ending at 7.30pm.

Ruebs said: 'I was ecstatic, and sent my wife a picture from the top.

'Once I was up, my joy was short-lived, as I was the last one up and they'd already started to get ready.

'There was no time for personal celebrations - this was their day.'

During the ceremony, Ruebs' co-photographer, Philip Nicolas, acted as a witness for the couple and they then did the photo shoot, which Brian said he was extremely pleased with.

He added: 'I get it - kids do this hike.

'But for anyone who is scared of heights, it's a chore, and climbing those cables after a long eight miles uphill isn't fun.

'Everyone has been really great about the images, though - which helps make up for the long hike.

'It was an awesome day, and one I surely won't forget.'
