Members of the youth organization of the Democratic Reforms Party attended a study and dialogue program of young politicians from the South Caucasus in Berlin.
The program, sponsored by Konrad-Adenauer Foundation and Deutsche Klassenlotterie, was joined by 18 young people from Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia who were provided with information about the German political system.
The participants met a number of government officials, members of the Bundestag, politicians and media representatives.
Karl-Georg Wellmann, a member of the Bundestag’s Foreign Affairs Committee, said he recognizes the fact of occupation of Azerbaijani territory by Armenia.
Despite protests by Armenian participants in the meeting, Wellmann said the international community is well aware of the occupation. He said he conflict could be resolved with the help of an international peacekeeping force.
Wellmann also said Armenia made a mistake by snubbing an association agreement with the European Union and joining the Russia-led Customs Union. He said the decision will have serious consequences.
