Vladimir Zhirinovskiy, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), has said he wants Azerbaijan to increase the number of its Russian-language schools.
The situation with Russian schools in Azerbaijan is “excellent”, said Zhirinovskiy on his first ever visit to Baku. “But I would want to see more Russian schools here.”
Once an outspoken critic of Azerbaijan and its government, Zhirinovskiy has recently changed his stance, publicly praising President Ilham Aliyev.
“I have the best impressions [of Azerbaijan],” he told reporters in Baku. “It’s a great country with a great leader.”
The LDPR leader was received by President Aliyev.
According to the state news agency Azartac, Aliyev and Zhirinovskiy said that Azerbaijani-Russian relations are expanding successfully in all areas.
