Israel to boost water, health, and tech cooperation with Azerbaijan

Israel is expanding its humanitarian and economic partnership with Azerbaijan, including water cooperation, medical aid, and satellite technology, outgoing Israeli Ambassador George Deek said at his farewell press conference.

“In 2025, we expect to reach a record of 50,000 Israeli tourists visiting Azerbaijan — possibly even double that,” he said. AZAL currently operates 14 direct weekly flights between the countries.

SOCAR has acquired a 10% stake in one of Israel’s largest gas fields and won a tender to explore Zone I off Israel’s coast.

Other projects include: joint work with Israel’s national water company, a Technion-backed cybersecurity center in Baku, satellites built for Azerbaijan, the Caucasus’ largest dairy farm near Shamakhi, and a poultry plant in Yevlakh.

An Israeli pharmaceutical company also launched a high-tech factory in the Alat Free Economic Zone.

Deek noted the ties extend beyond business: Israeli doctors have treated wounded Azerbaijani soldiers and pediatric teams, in partnership with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, have helped dozens of children.
