Qarabag wins 12th Azerbaijani Premier League title

Qarabag FK have secured their 12th Azerbaijani Premier League title after a 1-1 draw with Sabah in the 32nd round of the championship.
Gurban Gurbanov’s side clinched the title with four matches remaining in the season.
Redon Xhixha put Qarabag ahead from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute, but Boyan Letic equalized for Sabah in the 73rd minute.
Remarkably, 11 of Qarabag’s 12 titles have been won under the management of Gurban Gurbanov. Since the 2013/14 season, Qarabag have only once missed out on the title, when Neftchi won the league in the 2020/21 season.
Qarabag's first national title came in 1993 under coach Agaselim Mirjavadov.
The club will again represent Azerbaijan in the UEFA Champions League.
Elsewhere in the round, Sabael drew 1-1 with Araz-Nakhchivan, Turan-Tovuz drew 1-1 with Shamakhi, and Kapaz lost 0-1 to Zira. The 32nd round will conclude tomorrow with the match between Sumgayit and Neftchi.
