Orban refuses to join EU leaders’ statement on Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban did not sign the joint statement of European Union leaders published on the European Council’s website ahead of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump.
The statement welcomes President Trump’s efforts to end Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine and achieve a just and lasting peace. It emphasizes Ukraine’s right to choose its own future and asserts that international borders must not be changed by force.
The document was signed by 26 of the 27 EU leaders. A note states Hungary did not join the statement.
