Orban says he reached agreement with Erdogan on continued Russian gas transit to Hungary
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said he has agreed with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on guarantees ensuring the continued flow of Russian gas to Hungary via Turkey. Western media quoted Orban’s remarks at a press conference in Istanbul.
Orban noted that Hungary received 7.5 billion cubic meters of gas through the TurkStream pipeline in 2025.
According to Anadolu Agency, Orban also praised Turkey’s efforts to help end the Russia-Ukraine war, calling Erdogan “the only successful mediator.”
After Orban’s talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on 28 November, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said Moscow would deliver agreed volumes of gas and oil on time.
