Azerbaijan simplifies early retirement rules – MP explains new procedures
Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers has approved amendments to the rules for calculating and assigning labour pensions, simplifying procedures for citizens eligible for early retirement, MP Vugar Bayramov said on social media.
He noted that workers employed in hazardous or arduous conditions will no longer face difficulties obtaining confirmation documents from their workplaces, particularly when an enterprise has closed. Previously, missing documents delayed access to early retirement benefits.
Under the revised rules, if documentation is unavailable, a citizen’s profession will be assessed based on the Cabinet’s list of occupations eligible for preferential retirement. Employment records from the “Labour and Employment” subsystem, labour books or state archive documents will be used to verify work history.
Bayramov added that the amendments introduce a more favourable calculation method for individuals who receive a length-of-service allowance and continue to work: the higher of the two calculations – based on salary or pension capital – will be applied.
Under Azerbaijani law, the retirement age for men with at least 12 years and 6 months of work in hazardous conditions, and women with at least 10 years, is reduced by five years.
