Asim Mollazade, the chairman of the Democratic Reforms Party of Azerbaijan, has accused Armenian lobbying groups of carrying out an anti-Azerbaijan campaign worldwide.
"Foreign media have recently published nearly 4,500 anti-Azerbaijan reports. These reports are not only about the state of human rights in Azerbaijan. They are seeking every opportunity to smear Azerbaijan,” Mollazade said, speaking at hearings in parliament on Wednesday.
The smear campaign against Azerbaijan was stepped up because of the inaugural European Games to be held in Baku next month, Mollazade said.
"Western guests in Azerbaijan understand that this smear campaign is based on lies. This campaign against Azerbaijan is led by international Armenian organizations and lobbying groups. After the developments in Ukraine, Armenians came to realize that it’s time for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to open up to the world,” Mollazade said.
The lawmaker suggested that Azerbaijan should carry out serious work in the United States and Europe.
"Armenians and those following their orders need to be exposed immediately,” he said.
