Azerbaijan invites Iraq to join Tanap gas pipeline

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has urged Iraq to join the planned Trans-Anatolia natural gas pipeline (Tanap).

Mammadyarov made the proposal during a press conference with his Iraqi counterpart, Hoshyar Zebari, in Bagdad.

The 2,000 kilometer pipeline is to deliver Azeri gas to Europe across Turkey. The Socar-led project also includes Botas and BP.

The link is estimated to cost $7 billion to $11 billion.
