Azerbaijan, Russia praise relations developing "successfully, dynamically"

On 18 May, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met a delegation led by Russian Federation Vice Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.


According to the  APA , the head of state noted that relations between Russia and Azerbaijan were developing successfully and dynamically and said that the Russian vice prime minister's visit to Azerbaijan was a good opportunity to once again discuss issues on the agenda of bilateral relations between our countries.


President Ilham Aliyev emphasised the role of Dmitry Rogozin as a co-chair of the joint Azerbaijani-Russian intergovernmental commission in developing bilateral relations between Russia and Azerbaijan. Touching on our country's activities in the joint intergovernmental commission, the head of state stressed that the Azerbaijani side was also doing all it could to further improve relations between the two countries. Stating that the results achieved in this direction in conditions of the economic crisis observed in the world were sufficiently positive, President Ilham Aliyev said that there were good opportunities to further raise the existing potential.


Noting that our cooperation is unfolding on a broad spectrum, encompassing all direction in bilateral relations, including foreign policy, economy, social, humanitarian, and other spheres, the head of state said that trade and economic relations had become major fields in our relations. Expressing confidence that the potential in this field would continue to grow, President Ilham Aliyev noted the importance of the current meeting in the light of the discussion of the results of the work done and plans for further steps.


Russian Federation Vice Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin stressed the importance of the meetings of the joint intergovernmental commission in cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in trade, economy, culture, education, and other spheres from the viewpoint of developing our cooperation. Noting that such meetings produced good results in controlling the work done and agreements reached, Dmitry Rogozin said that the two countries were now discussing a joint project in the engineering industry, which might be of interest and might open prospects for Russia and Azerbaijan.


An exchange of opinion on prospects of cooperation between our countries took place at the meeting.
