The Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan has announced the number of mines discovered in the territories freed from occupation.

According to the ministry, 26,455 hectares of the territories freed from occupation have been cleared of mines and unexploded ammunition.

The ministry noted that 7,558 anti-personnel mines, 2,342 anti-tank mines and 9,944 pieces of unexploded ammunition were discovered and destroyed.

Also, 72 PMN-E type anti-personnel mines and 2 anti-tank mines produced in Armenia in 2019, which were buried by illegal Armenian armed groups during the last ten days, were removed from anti-personnel minefields in the territory of Lachin and Kalbajar districts and neutralized.

In the first seven days of September 2022,73 anti-personnel mines, 47 anti-tank mines and 8 pieces of unexploded ammunition were discovered and destroyed by the engineering and fortification units of the Azerbaijan Army in the liberated territories, and 273 hectares of territory were completely cleared.
