Facebook fans have been sent into a panic this week, at the thought they might have to start paying to use the social site.

But don’t worry, it seems the Facebook fee is just part of elaborate hoax. The fake story appears to have been started by satirical news website, National Report, and has since gone viral.According the report, Facebook planned to start charging a $2.99 fee from November. The article stated "At a press conference, Facebook rolled out their new monthly service plan which begins November 1st of this year. The social media giant says they will start charging members $2.99/mo to use the services that the site has to offer,"The story even went so far as to include fake quotes from Facebook boss, Mark Zuckerberg. The website reported the internet entrepreneur as saying “After thinking long and hard about this decision, at the end of the day, we were forced to add this monthly fee. If we don’t do something about our rising costs now, Facebook could cease to exist in the near future.”The story went on to say that users who couldn’t afford the fee should update their status with the words I AM POOR FACEBOOK PLEASE WAIVE MY MONTHLY FEE.Facebook are attempting to stop these fake stories and are reportedly testing a tag that will mark the articles as fake."This is because we received feedback that people wanted a clearer way to distinguish satirical articles from others," a Facebook spokesperson told Ars Technica website. So don’t panic, Facebook won’t be charging £1.80 per month, although if they did it would apparently make the social network over £1.8billion per year.(dailystar.co.uk)Bakudaily.Az
