Capacity of Azerbaijan's gas depots up to 5 bcm: Socar

The capacity of Azerbaijan's underground gas depots has increased to 5 billion cubic meters from 800 million cubic meters, SOCAR President Rovnaq Abdullayev said at a conference chaired by President Ilham Aliyev yesterday.

There are two such depots in the country - Qalmaz and Qaradag.

The volume of gas in the underground depots amounted to 3.5 billion cubic meters in 2013, according to the SOCAR head. The daily volume of gas feed to the system from the underground storages during cold days amounted to 25-26 million cubic meters, which equals daily volume of gas produced from the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea.
