The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main export pipeline carried less Azeri crude oil in September year-on-year, according to Azerbaijan’s state energy company SOCAR.

BTC exported 2.29 million tons of oil in September, down from 2.33 million tons a year earlier, according to data published on SOCAR website.

The pipeline shipped 21.8 million tons of Azeri oil in first nine months compared with 22.5 million tons a year earlier.

It also exported 385,597 tons of Turkmen and Kazakh in September.

The 1,768-km pipeline, led by British oil giant BP, has delivered 275 million tons of oil since it was launched in 2006.

Partners in the project also include SOCAR, Statoil, Chevron, Exxon Mobil, TPAO, ONGC Videsh and Itochu.

Azerbaijan also uses two other pipelines (Baku-Supsa and Baku-Novorossiysk) and rail to export oil.
