Visitors to Budapest were in for a shock this week when a giant erupted from beneath the ground.

Hungarian artist Ervin Herve-Loranth is responsible the enormous sculpture, entitled 'Feltépve' which translates as 'ripped up' or 'pop up'.The mammoth man appears to be emerging from underneath a blanket of grass from a subterranean lair in Szechenyi Istvan Square.Made of polystyrene, Feltépve was created for Art Market Budapest, a four-day international contemporary art fair. After wreaking havoc in Hungary, the giant is now being unleashed on the city of Ulm in Germany to terrify more unsuspecting tourists.Fanni Somogyi from Gallery Out of Home that supported the sculpture said: 'The creation had several meanings, such as, the symbolism of freedom, the desire to break free, the curiosity and the dynamics of development.'However, our organization also focuses on the crucial concept of interactivity and we strive to create spaces and deliver art works that allow the audience to be a part of or interact with the work.'(dailymail.co.uk)Bakudaily.Az
