Detention Extended for Foreign Student Charged with Defacing Nizami Cinema Center

The Nasimi District Court of Baku has granted an investigative motion extending the pre-trial detention of Belarusian national Ardeshir Seyfpour Saad Abadi by 20 days. Abadi stands accused of defacing the facade of the historically protected Nizami Cinema Center.
The incident occurred overnight on April 1–2 along Bulbul Avenue, where the nationally significant architectural landmark (inventory No. 123) was vandalized with spray paint and illicit lettering. Law enforcement inquiries linked the property damage to three school students and Abadi, a 2006-born Iranian native holding Belarusian citizenship and enrolled as a second-year student at ADA University. Following the initial damage report, official charges were brought against the foreign national, leading to his remand in custody.
